Nice post from BPH mentor Puneet Sapra… there’s a lot of discrete diagnoses and procedures out there, not to mention hundreds of medical specialties and sub-specialties. Here’s to more holistic and patient centered care going forward, and less fragmentation.

Great post by TechStars founder & CEO David Cohen yesterday. We’re proud and privileged to be part of the TechStars network. And we’re excited for January 2012 for the launch of our first class starting Jan 9 in NYC!
Stay tuned for more details!

Hi all! Having spent the past months reviewing the many great ideas and teams that submitted applications for our first January 2012 class (in addition to attending conferences up and down the East Coast, most recently mHealth with the Startup Health team), we are about ready to announce the first Blueprint Health batch of startups! This Wednesday 12/14 evening in NYC we will have a mixer for our mentors and some startup teams that have been accepted in the first program batch. We have some guests who have graciously agreed to come participate in our event to help share experience and insight into startup accelerators in NYC for our BPH mentor community and the BPH startup teams, including:
TechStar mentors
Andy Weissman - Union Square Ventures
Steve Schlafman - Lerer Ventures
Steve Cheney - GroupMe
Jon Steinberg - Buzzfeed
Founders
Lee Hoffman - Veri (TechStars)
Reece Pacheco - Shelby.tv (TechStars)
Mubeen Malik - 1DocWay (DreamIt)
Bharani Rajakumar - LearnBop (DreamIt)
Many thanks to our friends at Tipping Point Partners for agreeing to host our event in their lovely office spaces - we share similar passions in terms of fostering an innovation ecosystem in New York. Any questions, ping us!
Stay tuned for more news on the 1st Blueprint Health class!
To your health,
BPH Team

Great, succinct piece from a Harvard Kennedy School fellow posted to CNN this past weekend on immigration reform for the US and the impact on jobs. It’s clear reform is needed, despite what popular media think about other countries “stealing our jobs”:
- 40% of the Fortune 500 were started by immigrants or their children
- 25% of high tech startups created between 1995 - 2005 had at least 1 immigrant founder
To your (and our nation’s job) health,
BPH Team

Nice post from BPH mentor Charles Huang around 3 key considerations for fundraising and relationships: you, idea, and time.

Good post from Blueprint Health mentor/adviser Charles Huang around things to think about when considering startup accelerators. A good read for entrepreneurs and startup teams.
Lots of applications (almost 300!) to our first program, and we are busy reviewing lots of great teams and proposals!
To your health,

Startup Digest is a great resource for entrepreneurs, and one of the good tools they have can be found here - a series of videos featuring investors and entrepreneurs discussing a range of things: what entrepreneurship is about, trends in the technology industry, VC/investing. While there is a tech bent to the content and the backgrounds of individuals here, it’s definitely worth checking out.
To your health,
BHP Team
Here’s a good post and read from an engaged and involved Blueprint Health mentor, Charles Huang around the landscape of health/tech accelerators and incubators.
Feedback welcome!

Hello there! Welcome to the new Blueprint Health tumblelog, which we have created to share a little bit more about who we are, what we’re about, and what we’re interested. This tumblelog will supplement the efforts on our main website which you can find here, but is meant to primarily be somewhat more informal and an outlet for our mentors and community to post articles, pictures, and blogs around our shared interests in health, technology, and innovation.
No, that cute picture of a kid doctor is not any of us, but is a nod to the birth of this tumblelog on Halloween. For more information on the founding partners of Blueprint Health, please find them here: Brad, Mathew, and Peter. For more info on me, click here or here.
And reminder that applications to the 1st class that starts January 2012 in NYC are due in ~2 weeks… apply here & spread the word!
Stay tuned!
To your health,
BPH
